About The Position

As the Manager - Trade Compliance, you will be responsible for overseeing and
managing all aspects of export and import compliance globally. You will help
develop, review, and implement policies and procedures affecting U.S. and
international import and export activities in countries where Wesco operates.
You will collaborate with internal departments, providing guidance to ensure
trade compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree - Business or related field required
• 6 years required international business (import or export)
• 2 years required managing US export and/or import compliance
• 2 years required management of department and staff employees
• Knowledge of U.S. export regulations and interpretation of export control classifications
• Knowledge of U.S. import regulations and interpretation of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications
• Ability to partner with law firms and consultants internationally to implement export and import compliance programs fashioned for Wesco’s business model
• Current on import and export regulatory changes and best practices in trade compliance
• Strong leadership skills
• Strong negotiation skills
• Strong business analysis skills
• Strong people management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Licensed Customs Broker preferred
• Previous experience using global trade management tools is preferred
• Intimate knowledge of Wesco’s business practices and strategies preferred

Responsibilities

• Functions as professional authority on trade compliance matters for transaction reviews and other concerns.
• Participates in the development of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with export and import regulations.
• Oversees and administers export licensing and associated authorization requirements for controlled goods in the U.S. and other countries in which the company does business.
• Audits and reviews export and import activities for continuous improvement with the compliance process.
• Prepares and manages written responses and submissions to import and/or export related requests from Customs and export control agencies.
• Liaises with freight forwarders, Customs brokers and suppliers to resolve trade compliance topics.
• Utilizes trade compliance knowledge to research and apply trade regulations to the business.
