The Manager of Technology Systems and Infrastructure leads a team of systems engineers responsible for server, storage, datacenter, and infrastructure-based application platforms, providing technical management and domain expertise within the Community Health System's (CHS) Information Technology Services division. Responsible for direct supervision, work direction, and performance management of assigned staff. Provides on-going maintenance and support for server, storage, datacenter, and associated application technologies. Plans and manages the implementation of server, storage, datacenter, and complex software systems or projects that support clinical, business, technology and security operations. Researches and collaborates with the Director of Information Technology Services surrounding new technologies, solutions, and information technology best practices. Independently leads the resolution of issues and the implementation and design of complex technology solutions, ensuring clear communication and documentation of complex concepts and issues related to technology and application services across the organization. Provides leadership in complex analysis, process documentation, and end-to-end issue resolution, including coordination of testing activities and communication of outcomes to affected users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Technology related field required
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for Bachelor's Degree and experience requirement
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience implementing and supporting information technology server and storage infrastructure, datacenters, operating systems, and associated application technologies with demonstrated ability to lead effective teams required

Nice To Haves

  • 12 or more years of relevant experience, with previous experience as a lead, supervisor, or manager supporting information technology preferred
  • Experience with the following technologies: Cisco Unified Computing System, Cisco MDS, NetApp, Pure Storage, Epic Electronic Health Record, Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy Management, VMWare ESXI and vCenter, Rubrik preferred.
  • Microsoft Engineer/Architect-level certification preferred
  • VCP - VMware Certified Professional preferred

Responsibilities

  • Technology Analysis, Implementation, and Operations Leads the design, planning, implementation, configuration, testing, deployment, and lifecycle management of server, storage, datacenter, and technology application services.
  • Manages infrastructure and application implementations, enhancements, upgrades, and end of life transitions to ensure compatibility, interoperability, security, and reliability.
  • Identifies and drives continuous improvement opportunities across infrastructure and application platforms.
  • Collaborates with system owners, clinical and business partners, vendors, and suppliers on complex, integrated initiatives.
  • Maintains inventories of infrastructure, software, certificates, warranties, and support agreements to support budgeting and lifecycle planning.
  • Project, Service, and Operational Management Accountable for day to day delivery of project plans, enhancements, and operational commitments.
  • Ensures adherence to change, incident, problem, and request management processes; performs root cause analysis and escalates unresolved issues as appropriate.
  • Acts as a third level support resource, proactively identifying trends and mitigating risks.
  • Oversees security patching and updates, supported by reporting and compliance tracking.
  • Synthesizes operational and technical feedback from clinical and business stakeholders and SMEs.
  • Reports status of work plans, issues, and risks on a regular basis and delivers clear, effective stakeholder communications and presentations.
  • People Leadership and Team Management Plans, prioritizes, and coordinates team activities to achieve service, project, and operational objectives.
  • Manages and develops staff to maximize productivity through coaching, mentoring, training, and performance management.
  • Leads team meetings, knowledge sharing, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for employee engagement and people management processes including hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, development, retention, and corrective actions, in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Ensures team adherence to governance, process discipline, issue tracking, testing, and documentation standards.
  • Financial and Resource Management Manages capital and operating budgets for assigned functions, including forecasting, variance reporting, and corrective actions to remain within approved budgets.
  • Aligns resource planning with service area needs and organizational priorities.
  • Other Duties Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
