About The Position

This role offers the opportunity to lead and grow a high-performing technical writing team within a fast-paced software development environment. You will oversee the creation, standardization, and maintenance of technical documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and usability for diverse audiences. The position requires close collaboration with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to translate complex technical content into well-structured, user-friendly materials. You will define processes, manage priorities, and uphold documentation quality standards, while mentoring and developing team members. This role emphasizes both leadership and hands-on involvement, providing visibility into critical projects and the ability to influence product and operational success. It is a fully U.S.-based role with significant responsibility for maintaining content consistency and compliance across all documentation efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business Administration, Technical Writing, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
  • 6+ years of professional technical writing experience in a software development environment.
  • 3+ years of experience leading, coaching, and managing technical writing teams.
  • Strong understanding of software development processes, APIs, and modern documentation tools (e.g., Markdown, GitHub, Confluence).
  • Experience creating visual content such as diagrams, workflows, screenshots, and infographics.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to enforce consistency and accuracy across documentation.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills, with the ability to work with both in-person and remote subject matter experts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of technical writers, fostering high performance and collaboration.
  • Define and enforce documentation standards, templates, and processes to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance.
  • Oversee the production, tracking, and delivery of technical content, including manuals, workflows, tutorials, policies, and user guides.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to gather information and translate it into clear, accessible documentation.
  • Develop strategies for external-facing documentation and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Manage documentation intake, prioritization, execution, and reporting processes to meet project milestones.
  • Review and edit content as needed to maintain adherence to style guides and branding standards.
