Reporting to the Senior Manager, Product Development Engineering, the Manager, Systems Engineering is a pivotal role guiding a cross-functional team of System Engineers, Optics Engineers, and Data Scientists. This role is responsible for delivering customer-focused Hach products, encompassing both new product development and ongoing product sustainment, while ensuring all performance, quality, and reliability standards are met. This position is part of the Product Development Engineering team located in Loveland, Colorado, and is an on-site role.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in product development
• 3+ years of experience in system engineering V-model product development structure
• Proven track record leading multi-disciplinary new product development engineering efforts from definition to release and sustainment
• Experience serving in a high-impact project leadership role

Nice To Haves

• Experience with optics / opto-electronics is a plus
• Awareness in applying machine learning (ML) to hardware, instrumentation, or test data is a plus

Responsibilities

• Leading a team of system-level engineering leaders through execution and technical excellence in both new product development and sustaining
• Driving strategic initiatives to adapt to evolving technologies and business needs
• Collaborating with cross-functional leadership on new product development and sustaining projects and implementation of best practices
• Identifying and resolving complex issues within the broad product development organization, proactively updating or modifying work methods when necessary
• Ensuring thoughtful use of established product development processes
• Collaborating with the Hach Global R&D community on continuous improvement efforts
• Establishing individual and team objectives in collaboration with R&D leadership
