About the Team The Manager, Systems Engineer role is part of the Nutanix Systems Engineering team, which specializes in providing cutting-edge solutions for the Public Sector SLED (State, Local, Education) domain. Located in the Southeast region, this team thrives on fostering an upbeat and collaborative culture, focused on innovation and continuous learning. The mission of this team is to empower government entities with robust virtualization, storage, and cloud technologies, ensuring they have the tools necessary to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape. You will report to the Director, Systems Engineer, who emphasizes a leadership style that is both supportive and hands-on, inspiring team members through mentorship and shared technical expertise. This role is remote, allowing for flexibility in daily work habits; however, team members may need to come into the office as required for specific meetings or events, although there are no strict in-office days mandated. This position requires approximately 25% travel, encompassing visits to key customers and stakeholders within the designated territory to support evaluations, cultivate relationships, and enhance collaboration with channel partners. Occasional travel will be necessary to meet the demands of the role and ensure a strong presence in the market.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a pre-sales Senior Systems Engineer.
• 1-2 years of managerial experience leading teams.
• Strong understanding of virtualization, storage, and/or cloud markets.
• Experience with public cloud offerings, SaaS, and consumption models.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven ability to manage HR responsibilities for direct reports.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and channel partners.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with government entities, particularly state and local organizations, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, onboard, and mentor new Systems Engineers within the region.
• Maintain a positive and growth-oriented team culture through training and support.
• Manage HR responsibilities for the Systems Engineers including performance reviews and expense management.
• Provide technical support and guidance for complex evaluations and customer challenges.
• Ensure ongoing channel partner enablement and foster relationships with technical teams.
• Act as a flexible resource for the team, covering for team members when needed.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for pre-sales and post-sales issues in the territory.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders in the region.
