Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/medtech This role will lead strategic procurement for External Manufacturing within the Surgery business, shaping and executing supplier strategies that ensure reliable, high-quality supply while unlocking cost savings and innovation that accelerate new surgical solutions. You’ll work with various Supply Chain partners and senior leaders to influence long-range sourcing decisions, drive measurable supplier performance improvements, and mitigate supply risk across geographies. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in an applicable field of study
  • 6 years of direct experience
  • Broad-based understanding of Surgery business operations and core Procurement areas (e.g., spend management, category management, supplier management, etc.)
  • Customer orientation through building and maintaining strong relationships with Surgery and J&J senior management
  • Strong business acuity
  • Strong leadership, vision and strategy setting, sophisticated negotiation, communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong project management and organizational change capabilities
  • Multi-country and multi-sector experience preferred with experience across geographies of varied sizes and businesses
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with consistent track record of confidently communicating sophisticated information
  • Ability to continuously improve the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with core Procurement skills (e.g., supplier management, market intelligence, category management, Procurement excellence, etc.)
  • High level of credibility with internal customers, and with the supplier community at an executive level
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing customer needs (e.g. business, Procurement leadership, marketing, R&D, supply chain, legal)
  • Knowledge of External Manufacturing and Biomaterials & Biologics areas a bonus
  • Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams and performing significant influencing roles
  • Strong business and contractual competence and confirmed team building skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment, while ensuring the organization is able to effectively and efficiently move through transitions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive Procurement vision for, with and through the Surgery partner community to deliver supplier performance across reliability, quality, cost, innovation, and growth commitments.
  • Own all related procurement activity, engaging with key Supply Chain business partners as well as R&D, including leadership teams and financial forums to set goals and drive decision making.
  • Orchestrate supply base strategy performance to achieve commitments and business needs by providing robust data and insights from the business across Supply Chain.
  • Develop a sound and efficient strategies, partnering across Procurement categories to ensure robust supplier selection slates and adherence to the supplier selection process.
  • Develop deep relationships with own strategic suppliers and work with other Supplier Relationship Managers (SRMs) to drive end-to-end value for the business.
  • Own your Procurement metrics and partner with other SRMs to deliver year-on-year improvements and drive competitive advantage, continuously supervising business needs to ensure requirements are met.
  • Develop and complete strategic network programs and gross profit improvement roadmaps through close collaboration with Value Stream Leaders, Supply Chain team members and external partners.
  • Proactively call out supplier related issues that may impact continuity of supply and collaborate on resolutions.
  • Understand long range business requirements and engage in strategic planning and partnering via S&OP forums to ensure alignment across key supply chain functions.
  • Build and manage relationships throughout J&J that result in dynamic interactive dialogue on a broad range of perspectives and information critical to the development of optimal approaches and solutions.
