About The Position

This position is responsible for leading the engineering aspects of store physical plant, infrastructure and equipment in coordination with key stakeholders. This position functions as a shared resource supporting all engineering design concepts for all equipment. This position works cross functionally and collaborates with store design, facilities, energy, construction, sourcing, operations, merchandising, real estate, and our national architectural and engineering firms.

Requirements

  • Bachelors/4 Yr Degree
  • 8+ years Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years of Management Experience
  • Professional Engineer (required)
  • Sound mechanical engineering skills with exposure to electrical engineering.
  • Strong facilitation and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills including presentation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, and AutoCAD.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of architectural and design plans.

  • Certified Energy Manager (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Work with Store Design, Facilities, Energy, Construction, Strategic Sourcing and Real Estate on various initiatives as they relate to the design, functionality, and energy & water conservation.
  • Ensure that the equipment used in the stores is functional, energy efficient, and sustainable. This will apply to cooking equipment, refrigeration and HVAC equipment, lighting systems, and computer equipment.
  • Constantly look for ways to reduce energy, value engineer MEP systems and operating costs for all plant and equipment.
  • Work with sourcing to write RFP's, evaluate responses, and select new vendors/suppliers that meet cost, operational efficiencies, and quality. Emphasis should be placed on reducing the total life cycle costs.
  • Work closely with our national A&E firms to ensure accuracy, adherence to standards, and that appropriate processes are followed regarding changes to the plan standards. Communicate spec changes to all stakeholders.
  • Specify and select new equipment as needed.
  • Manage the roadmap for energy management systems (EMS) and the equipment commissioning program.
  • Re-design existing equipment to improve energy, maintenance efficiencies, and reduce operating costs.
  • Evaluate energy & operating needs of all new stores and remodel initiatives from merchandising and others during initial feasibility, testing, and full implementation.
  • Actively participate in equipment/program testing for energy and maintenance aspects.
  • Leverage EMS to optimize the equipment operations to reduce energy and maintenance costs while benchmarking store results.
  • Partner with Energy to develop and implement action plans to normalize high-cost sites.
  • Lead in the development of business transformational projects based on energy & maintenance cost reductions, and optimal MEP store design.
