About The Position

The Manager, Single Cell & Research Operations will be responsible for implementing changes into both clinical and research processes, providing scientific leadership for new experimental design, interpreting data, and ensuring the development of robust operational processes that align with scientific and organizational goals.

Requirements

  • PhD required
  • At least 5 years of related experience working in a research lab focusing on lab histology, genomics, molecular biology, flow cytometry and imaging.
  • At least 3 years of management related experience overseeing the work of others in a lab setting.
  • Experience with all commercial single cell RNA assays including but not limited to 10X Genomics, BD Rhapsody, and Fluent
  • Experience with library construction and sequencing is required
  • Strong understanding of histology best practices and instrumentation
  • Demonstrated ability to design and optimize flow cytometry panels, including high parameter spectral panels
  • Knowledge of spatial techniques and current instrumentation

Responsibilities

  • Process Implementation & Workflow Management
  • Responsible for implementing changes to New Protocols & Products and Workflow Changes.
  • Plan validation experiments, assess changes statistically, and work with Automation, LIMS, and SQM to implement process changes.
  • Document work performed and maintain quality standards, including training lab teams in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshooting across the entire area of focus.
  • Assist with supply chain alternatives, create reagent phase-in QCs, and be responsible for ordering new reagents.
  • Maintains up-to-date Bills of Materials related to any process changes or updates and monitors usage.
  • Scientific Design & Research Contribution
  • Designs new experiments with more complex and moderately advanced scientific knowledge.
  • Interprets data, presents results of research, and draws conclusions regarding presented material and nature of work.
  • Understands how to build processes that are robust while mindful of how they may impact future processes and fit into scientific and organizational goals.
  • Makes significant contributions to scientific papers, reports, posters, and presentations.
  • Participates in the writing of grant proposals and patent applications.
  • Participates in external activities such as scientific conferences, technical meetings, invited symposia, etc.
  • Communication & Collaboration
  • Works in collaboration with the Director, Process Development to approve changes and ensure they meet long-term goals.
  • Collaborate with various teams (Quality & Compliance, Automation, LIMS, SQM, GS, Lab team, ODI) to assess timelines, workflows, and communicate project updates, needs, and issues.
  • Works closely with the Supervisor/General Supervisor daily to communicate project updates, resource needs, issues, etc.
  • Education, Mentoring & Supervision
  • May train, supervise, or mentor junior members of the team.
  • Work with GS to identify competent PDAs to work with on experiments and delegate tasks to.
  • Listen to feedback from the lab and assess feasibility of requested changes.
