About The Position

The Manager of Plant Engineering, through oversight and leadership to the Maintenance Department, is responsible for ensuring a safe, comfortable, and healing environment for the health system's staff, physicians, patients, and visitors. Responsible for administering and directing maintenance and preventative maintenance programs for buildings, grounds, and equipment while exercising good fiscal judgment. Will analyze costs and work schedules, set priorities and expedite operations, and repair efforts. Responsible for procurement and generation of all utilities and their distribution systems, and coordinating associated activities with other departments to ensure a safe and efficient operation. Plans and recommends development of physical facilities. Reviews and recommends approval of plans for construction and advises on structural and/or engineering changes, additions, or modifications to existing buildings. Serves as liaison with contractors, architects, engineers, and materials and equipment suppliers. Develops and enforces health system's policies, prepares department budgets, and manages departmental expenses and FTEs within budget constraints. Conducts meetings, maintains documentation, implements corrective action plans when necessary, and interacts well with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education/experience preferred.
  • High school graduate (or equivalent), or trade school with at least five years of experience in plant engineering/maintenance and a minimum of four years of supervisory experience required.
  • Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings or blueprints.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems.
