About The Position

The Manager - Physician Practices III, John Muir Health Physicians Practices (JMHPP) is a member of the operations and management team and works in collaboration with medical directors, physicians, practice staff, and the senior leadership team to ensure best practice operations within the ambulatory site(s) they manage. The Manager - Physician Practices III is responsible for managing high performing metric-driven practice with ten or more providers two or more practice locations . The Manager - Physician Practices III measures the success of practice performance by comparing financial, operational, and clinical performance metrics against benchmarks identified by the JMHPP leadership team. The Manager - Physician Practices III is also responsible for implementing course correction activities to improve practice performance when necessary. The Manager - Physician Practices III enforces standardized operations within the assigned practice site(s) and ensures adherence to policies and procedures set forth by senior leadership. Also, the Manager - Physician Practices III is responsible for ensuring all financial and business operations are executed to ensure practice efficiency. Additionally, the Manager - Physician Practices III collaborates with Managing Partner dyad and foundation-based physicians to optimize practice operations, clinical quality measures, patient flow, access, revenue cycle (as applicable), and overall financial health and the ambulatory site(s). The Manager - Physician Practices III is responsible for measuring and providing reporting on performance results in patient, provider, and staff experience through upholding and promoting internal and external service standards. The Manager - Physician Practices III reports to the Director of Operations of their assigned clinic. The Manager - Physician Practices III works closely with their site’s managing partner(s) to facilitate a strong relationship with the physicians and to encourage open communication on operational, financial or procedure-based improvements. The Manager - Physician Practices III serves as the single point of contact for all practice site course correction implementations, operational partnerships, and metric-driven practice reporting. The scope of this position includes visiting all practice sites under their span of control, if applicable, and forming strong relationships with physicians based in the assigned practice sites to ensure best practice adherence to policies and procedures and patient access.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree (Or 4 years experience) - Required
  • 3 years Practice Management - Progressive Leadership in an Ambulatory/Physician Practice - Required

  • Working with Physicians, Building Strong and Trusting Relationships with Physician Leaders - Required
  • Ability to make timely and informed decisions as well as the ability to delegate
  • A high level of comfort, knowledge and experience regarding finance, cost control, access, productivity enhancement, government regulations and reimbursement methodologies
  • An understanding and appreciation for clinic operations, including continuous quality improvement expertise and interest in operational improvements
  • Comfort and familiarity with computer systems, programs, and applications with an ability to instill this in others
  • Ability to develop a strong, successful, and responsive management team that is quality oriented, metric driven, and focused on customer service
  • Delivers written and verbal communication in a clear, concise, compelling manner to effectively engage others and achieve desired results
  • Excellent physician relation skills and ability to engage physicians by providing valuable insights and logical explanations when faced with difficult questions
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to challenging problems

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree - Preferred
  • Strong practice management experience in a multi-physician (four or more) ambulatory clinic - Preferred
  • A continuous learner who can demonstrate competencies as outlined in the medical practice Body of Knowledge through professional achievement in attaining Certification/Fellowship in the American College of Medical Practice Executives (Medical Group Management Association), and/or in American College of Healthcare Executives - Preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification - Preferred
