This is not a desk-only role, and it is not a “guard post” position. We are looking for someone who has lived the work—former military (including special operations), former SWAT, or a veteran law enforcement professional—and who still wants to be in the arena: visible, engaged, training others, and building a campus safety program that is disciplined, professional, and practical. The ideal candidate is a leader who can write policy, build systems, and recruit a team—without wanting to become a full-time administrator. You will handle the administrative responsibilities because they matter, but your day-to-day presence will be on campus: proactively reducing risk, setting standards, training staff, and serving as the on-site security lead. This role is responsible for being a visible deterrent, owning the safety plan and intruder-response plan, coordinating training (including concealed-carry related training where appropriate and lawful), and leading the first on-campus response until emergency responders arrive. In this role, success looks like: A campus where students, staff, customers and families feel calm and confident because safety is organized, visible, and practiced, but without being oppressive. Clear procedures that people actually follow because they are simple, trained, and enforced consistently. A security program that is professional and built around prevention, training, and readiness.
