We are looking for dedicated individuals to join us in engineering solutions for our customers. We are currently seeking a full-time Manager of Engineering for the 1 st Shift (6:30am – 3:00pm) at our Ketema facility in El Cajon, CA. What Does the Job Involve? The Manager of Engineering leads and supervises a team of manufacturing engineers engaged in manufacturing process development, production support, and tool design/planning. Schedules and prioritizes individual team members’ workload based on operational requirements and personnel skills/ability. Reviews and approves customer supplied product designs (including any design changes) for compliance with engineering principles, organizational standards, and industry/customer specifications requirements. Supports quoting and estimating activities related to new business development. Supports continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. Kaizen events) to maintain and improve cost, quality and delivery metrics. Interfaces closely with the Quality and Operations team members to maintain and improve company procedures and work instructions. Plans and manages the introduction of new products into regular production from receipt of purchase order through concurrent engineering with customer’s product design teams, Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP), and full rate.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 5 years of manufacturing process experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, process improvement, and project management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and approves customers’ product design (including engineering design change flow downs etc.) for compliance with engineering principles, organization standards, and industry/customer specification requirements.
  • Develops, verifies, and validates new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluates and analyzes manufacturing process, product, materials and/or equipment specifications and performance requirements with company capabilities.
  • Analyzes and solves problems from basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts to a wide range of complex or advanced problems.
  • Proactively addresses resource issues to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Prepares, reviews, and translates 3 dimensional models and/or drawings into format compatible with system capabilities.
  • Develops and maintains key performance indicators for processes.
  • Develops and configures performance measurement tools utilizing queries, spreadsheets, and engineering software tools.
  • Assigns duties, responsibilities, and projects.
  • Prepares work schedules of employees engaged in production tool planning and programming.
  • Ensures planning and tooling schedules meet output demand.
  • Provides day to day supervision and support, to include recruiting, managing, training and development, evaluating performance, and providing employee discipline in the assigned areas.
  • Collaborates with appropriate department on product quality issues and resolve production problems to maximize product quality and reliability.
  • Works with various other Senior divisions to share best practices and implement process improvements as applicable.
  • Coordinates with other departments to resolve design, supplier, and production issues.
  • Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, works overtime when necessary, follows directions from a supervisor, interacts well with co-workers, understands and follows work rules and procedures, works safely, complies with corporate policies, goals and objectives, accepts constructive feedback, establishes goals and objectives, and exhibits initiative and commitment.

  • Recommends and implements changes to improve operational efficiency and/or quality standards.
  • Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes for current or next generation programs.
  • Reduces product and process variation using data analysis and continuous improvement methods.
