About The Position

We need a Manager of Fleet, Materials & Maintenance to provide leadership and strategic oversight of all Ready-Mix fleet assets, raw material management (cement, fly ash, aggregates, and chemical additives), and maintenance operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and cost efficiency of operations across multiple Ready-Mix plants. The manager will coordinate with operations, safety, and procurement teams to ensure consistent delivery performance, material quality, and asset optimization while driving continuous improvement across all areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, Engineering, Logistics, or related field; or equivalent experience (5+ years in fleet, maintenance, and materials leadership).
  • Demonstrated experience managing fleet maintenance and material logistics at a multi-site level.
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP and fleet management systems; strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Proven success in budgeting, cost control, and vendor management.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Results-driven, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong preference for Ready Mix, aggregate, or construction materials industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the management of all Ready-Mix fleet vehicles assigned to the Division, including mixer trucks, loaders, and service equipment.
  • Develop and oversee preventive maintenance schedules to maximize uptime and extend equipment life.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, EPA, and local regulatory standards.
  • Monitor telematics and GPS systems to track vehicle performance, utilization, and driver compliance.
  • Manage fleet capital expenditures and assist in long-term asset replacement planning.
  • Evaluate and recommend equipment purchases and specifications to meet operational needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in fleet reliability, safety, and cost-per-mile/hour performance.
  • Oversee procurement, storage, and handling of cement, fly ash, aggregates, and admixtures.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries, consistent quality, and competitive pricing.
  • Conduct regular material audits and reconcile inventory variances.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure materials meet all specifications and performance standards
  • Supervise maintenance teams and ensure work orders are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Implement a preventive maintenance program and maintain accurate service records.
  • Oversee external maintenance vendors and ensure warranty and compliance requirements are met.
  • Develop and track maintenance budgets, managing parts inventory and repair costs effectively.
  • Enforce company and regulatory safety policies across all fleet, plant, and maintenance activities.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and lead incident investigations with corrective actions.
  • Ensure OSHA, DOT, and company standards are consistently followed.
  • Maintain documentation for inspections, permits, and certifications.
  • Drive a proactive safety culture by training and engaging all employees in best practices
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems and fleet management software to monitor operational performance.
  • KPI’s -Analyze key performance data including downtime, repair costs, usage rates, and material trends.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for leadership on fleet, maintenance, and materials performance.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through improved vendor negotiations, process efficiency, and waste reduction.
  • Support annual budget development and ensure performance within approved limits.
  • Partner closely with Production, Dispatch, Safety, Procurement, Finance, and Quality Control teams to align priorities.
  • Participate in cross-functional planning meetings to ensure fleet and material needs support production schedules.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for maintenance and material issues impacting operations.
  • Communicate project updates, equipment status, and material issues effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of CER projects related to fleet, plant, and material systems.
  • Work with Operations Managers to identify and prioritize capital needs.
  • Develop business cases and financial justifications for capital requests.
  • Track project progress and ensure completion within budget and schedule.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with company approval processes.
