About The Position

We are seeking a proactive and highly organized Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee our maintenance operations and lead our team of skilled technicians. You will be responsible for the lifecycle of our diverse fleet—ranging from Arborist Bucket Trucks, Chippers, Heavy to Light Duty Trucks, Mowers, Landscape Equipment, and Snow Maintenance Equipment.The ideal candidate balances "wrench-time" knowledge with the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and safety compliance to ensure zero downtime for our operations.

Requirements

  • Technical Mastery: Extensive experience with diesel/gas engines, hydraulics, and electronic diagnostics. You should be able to assist with complex repairs when necessary.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record in a supervisory or shop foreman role.
  • Data Management: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking maintenance schedules, part inventories, and repair histories.
  • Digital Literacy: Ability to use digital tools for parts ordering, researching technical manuals, and maintaining organized digital folders for fleet records.
  • Workflow Optimization: Ability to transition manual shop notes into a clean, searchable digital format to ensure no preventative maintenance (PM) tasks are missed.
  • Documentation Strategy: Responsible for the accuracy of the Fleet Master Log (Excel). Must ensure every oil change, hydraulic repair, and tire rotation is logged immediately to maintain the resale value and safety of company assets.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
  • Physical Stamina: Willingness to be active in the shop and handle the physical demands of equipment inspection.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening (Drug-Free Workplace).
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL preferred but not required).
  • Minimum of 5–7 years in fleet maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership/management capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and schedule a team of Fleet Mechanics. Conduct performance reviews and ensure the team is trained on both hydraulic and electronic systems.
  • Asset Management: Oversee the maintenance lifecycle of all equipment (lawn mowers, skid loaders, medium-duty trucks, bucket trucks, etc). Prioritize repair orders to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Inventory & Procurement: Manage the procurement of parts and shop supplies. Negotiate with vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness and maintain an organized inventory system.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all shop activities and vehicle operations meet OSHA and DOT standards. Maintain meticulous records of inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Budgeting: Monitor maintenance costs and provide recommendations for fleet upgrades or equipment retirement based on repair-vs-replace analysis.
  • Facility Oversight: Coordinate general facility repairs and ensure the shop remains a clean, safe, and efficient environment.
