About The Position

The Manager of Clinical Excellence and Inpatient Therapy Services leads initiatives to achieve clinical excellence for all therapy services with a focus on new employee onboarding, mentorship programming, staff development and competence, while also overseeing clinical student programs with our academic partners. This role is responsible for the development and execution of departmental compliance monitoring and risk mitigation with quality assurance processes, including but not limited to chart audits, documentation, and billing compliance reviews to ensure department practice meets organizational policies and regulatory and hospital accrediting body standards. The Manager provides direct oversight of therapy operations and staff servicing hospital-based patients which may include inpatient, swing bed, ambulatory, surgical services, emergency department and other hospital-based care as necessary. The Manager is responsible for inpatient therapy quality initiatives, staff development and compliance to maximize patient outcomes and standards of care based upon evidence-based practice. Collaboration and cooperation with the multidisciplinary team is expected to ensure effective teamwork necessary for operational and clinical excellence and program growth. The Manager provides patient care in all Hillsboro Health Therapy Services settings as needed while also working directly with the team of Therapy Services Managers and the Director for patient care, staff development, compliance, competence and clinical excellence. The goal of this position is to advance a culture of clinical excellence, compliance and competence for all therapy services, and to provide oversight, growth and development of hospital-based therapy services.

Requirements

  • 5-10+ years of inpatient therapy experience with expertise in hospital-based therapy, interdisciplinary care coordination and management of complex patient populations with additional experience providing care in the outpatient therapy setting preferred
  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Experience with clinical quality improvement programs
  • Prior experience with mentorship programs preferred
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited physical, occupational, or speech therapy program
  • Eligible for Illinois State Licensure in a physical, occupational or speech therapy discipline
  • BLS required or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory standards for therapy practice, compliance and billing at the State and Federal levels with a strong focus on Swing Bed, outpatient therapy, and accrediting body regulations.
  • Understand, follow, train and lead by example for matters involving healthcare compliance, confidentiality and ethics.
  • Demonstrate professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate effective time management, conflict resolution, problem-solving and delegation of duties.
  • Manage and analyze performance metrics data for quality improvement initiatives, financial stewardship and clinical outcome measures.
  • Manage student clinical affilliations as the site clinical coordinator for therapy services.
  • Manage student clinical programs ensuring clinical instructor competence and successful student clinical experiences.
  • Manage department audits and training for compliance with ethical and legal documentation and billing practices across the therapy continuum of care.
  • Provide patient-centered care with a strong foundation in evidence-based practice.
  • Evaluate staff performance, provide coaching and develop effective action plans for professional development and performance growth.
  • Participate in accreditation survey activities and survey preparation with an understanding of current accreditation standards and requirements.
  • Develop and execute a staff mentorship program for successful new employee onboarding and ongoing competence.
  • Monitor and complete payroll and scheduling items for direct reports.
  • Participate in hospital committee meetings and initiatives, particularly the Swing Bed Committee, for development, marketing, and growth of hospital programs.
  • Collaborate with the hospital Clinical Educator and other managers for coordination of hospital-based employee education.
  • Complete other duties as assigned and deemed necessary for the needs of the team, patients, and community.
