About The Position

The Manager of Category Management performs a valuable role in building a strong partnership with club retailers including Sam’s Club and BJ’s by developing and implementing analytics and insights to deliver against company, category, and customer priorities. This position is responsible for leading the development and communication of Category Management foundations and directives across the organization for the assigned categories.

Requirements

  • 5 years of consumer packaged goods experience is preferred with a focus on Health & Wellness / Nutritional Supplements, primarily category management driven.
  • High School Diploma is required and a Bachelor’s Degree is strongly preferred.
  • Microsoft Office (very strong Excel/PowerPoint). Experience managing large datasets and building reports.
  • Prior experience working with Circana/Nielsen syndicated and panel data preferred.
  • JDA experience preferred but not required.
  • Must be comfortable with around 25% overnight travel.
  • Ability to effectively build story telling through data.
  • Ability to extract clear, concise insights from multiple data sources.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working alongside national retailers and building successful partnerships.
  • Must work well in a team environment and have a demonstrated ability to operate at all levels within an organization.
  • Experience working and collaborating cross‑functionally (e.g., account teams, strategy teams, shopper engagement teams).
  • Must be able to multi-task and follow-up when responses are needed.
  • Must be comfortable leading multiple retailers for a region.
  • The ability to utilize creativity and push beyond the obvious, comfortable going into “unchartered” territory in setting out recommendations, goals.
  • Ability to build relationships and senior level engagement.
  • Dynamic leader who can push past obstacles, overcome objections.
  • Understand the value of listening to customers, gaining insights and moving objectives forward.
  • Communication skills: Able to clearly communicate plans, reports, ideas, and concepts to cross‑functional teams and management.

Responsibilities

  • Establish clear Category Management strategies for the company and club retailers based on industry trends and consumer insights. Leverage various data sources to create dynamic presentations that communicate strategies and achieve objectives.
  • Serve as an expert in translating internal knowledge into actionable insights to identify opportunities for club retailers.
  • Collaborate with account and cross‑functional teams to develop solutions to business opportunities.
  • Establish and deliver best-in-class merchandising recommendations, leveraging tools such as JDA and Rich Mix.
  • Influence the customer by identifying opportunities and providing potential solutions that align with retailer and company objectives.
  • Assist with any research and lead projects to deliver category solutions benefiting both the customer and the company.
  • Develop category reviews, line reviews, promotion analyses, new‑item trackers, and related deliverables.
  • Leverage data tools - including Madrid, Circana, Numerator, and others - to deliver reporting and insights that advance company and retailer objectives.
  • Actively manage large datasets and build or maintain advanced analytical reports and interactive dashboards.
  • Develop ad‑hoc analyses and insights to address business opportunities, including category reviews, consumer behavior, new item sell‑in, new item tracking, SKU rationalization, item defense, promotion & pricing etc.
  • Incorporate advanced consumer data—such as macro‑level insights, market research, consumer decision trees, household panel data, customer-specific consumer data (Rich Mix, JDA), and Numerator—into analyses as relevant.
  • Partner with key internal teams, such as Strategy and Sales, to leverage insights that drive business growth with club retailers.
