About The Position

The Ocean Pricing Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of DSV's estimating/pricing team, ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. This position will be responsible for managing staff, developing, and implementing operational policies and procedures, managing workflows so that bids and pricing enquiries are responded to in a timely, competitive, and professional manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain management or a related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Freight Forwarding, logistics or related field is required.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in estimating/pricing is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address operational issues and challenges.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation and logistics processes, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in using transportation management software, such as TMS or WMS.
  • Strong math and analytical skills is preferred.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and experience with transportation management software.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Air Exports is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of lean principles and methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience in international transportation and logistics management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the Ocean estimating/pricing team, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating activities to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods and services.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to the team when completing bids to appropriately identify and quantify cost factors, such as, Transport, Materials handling, Inspection, Storage and labor expenses.
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Manage staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation, to ensure that all team members are working effectively and efficiently.
  • Assist the team in appropriately identifying the scope of work, schedules and other technical documents in order to prepare estimates.
  • Collaborate and foster relationships with subcontractors, clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Recommend solutions that improve cost reductions and /or profitability.
  • Monitor that the correct process and procedures are being followed.
  • Maintain a database of historical and current pricing.
  • Ensure that Cargowise is used for spot bids.
  • Monitor that the quote register is updated and always maintained.
  • Assist in the preparation of bids and estimates.
  • Track our win/ loss ratio and maintain the same in Carowise and the quote register.
  • Actively promote a culture of health and safety and participate in safety reviews and progress meetings.
