About The Position

Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108 bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and we bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for a Manager of Medical Staff/Recipient Rights Officer position. Manager of Medical Staff provides administrative support for the Medical Director, Medical Staff, and support the CEO. This position will also serve as the Recipient Rights Officer. Schedule: This is a Fulltime, 40 hour a week.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University in business, psychology, education, or related field with 3-5 years of relevant experience; or an associate degree in business, psychology, education, or related field with 5+ years of related experience. Previous management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of office procedures and organizational skills in a hospital required.
  • Knowledge and experience in credentialing new and/or existing medical staff and non-physician providers required
  • Experience with recruitment and onboarding medical staff members
  • Knowledge of TJC, TDSHS, CMS standards with Medical Staff any other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in an acute medical or psychiatric treatment setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Function as medical staff credentialing, including overseeing and maintaining of all medical staff and non-physician provider files for new and existing medical staff.
  • Maintain AMA, National Data Bank, ECFMG and OIG information to utilize for new and existing medical staff.
  • Serve as the hospital representative to regulatory bodies in the areas of credentialing and any related physician matters.
  • Assist the CEO with any required reports to the NPDB, OIG, etc.
  • Serves as the liaison between the hospital and medical staff regarding hospital communications and policies.
  • Responsible for scheduling the Medical Executive Committee (MEC) and quarterly Medical Staff meetings and recording minutes from each meeting.
  • Maintain current hospital training records for all medical staff.
  • Responsible to assist with recruitment, onboarding, and ensure that proper training is received for all new medical staff members.
  • Assures that new patients (and parents of minors) receive notification of their rights (booklets) and information regarding how to contact the Rights Advisor; additionally, assures that copies of rights booklets are posted in the hospital for inspection by patient.
  • Provides orientation/in-service training on rights to hospital staff, including administrative, professional, clinical and direct care staff in conjunction with Staff Development.
  • Visits all units regularly to provide rights consultation to patients and staff, to review patient records, and to observe rights aspects of treatment and condition on the units, as well as, provides rights information to patients, staff guidelines, family, and the public as requested or appropriate.
  • Receives complaints concerning rights violations, conducts investigations to conclude if a right was violated.
  • Submits semi-annual and annual Recipient Rights Reports to the Performance Improvement Committee and Department of Community Health.
  • Makes recommendations to the CEO regarding action necessary to remediate violations.
  • Monitors Regulatory Agency Reports such as (JCAHO, Public Health, fire marshal, etc.), that may impact upon the rights of recipients and alert the hospital administrative staff to on-going and/or potential violations.
  • Directly communicates and consults with the Risk Manager on all necessary and/or appropriate issues.
  • Serves as a staff member responsible to the Recipient Rights Advisory Committee.
