About The Position

In this role, the guardianship representative from the Guardianship and Advocacy Commission, Office of State Guardian, plays a vital role in managing a caseload of court-referred wards, including developmentally disabled, mentally ill, and aged adults. This position involves conducting quarterly assessments to identify the care needs of each ward and developing tailored solutions to support their well-being. The representative prepares and submits public benefits applications, maintains accurate case records, and documents all case management activities. Requirements

  • Requires possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university program including 20 semester hours of coursework in social work or a related human service or social science field; or in criminal justice. related graduate coursework or degrees may be accepted as satisfying educational requirements.
  • Requires two years of professional experience in human services program management or management of a social services delivery program, or two years of professional caseworker experience that included utilization of investigative methods and practices.
  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
  • Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
  • Requires ability to work outside normal business hours and weekends.

  • Prefers three years’ experience in negotiating case outcomes and resolving conflicts in both emergency and nonemergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, directs, organizes, plans, and facilitates the functions and activities of a regional HRA panel in the disposition of alleged disability rights violations committed by service providers.
  • Organizes, directs, and guides on-site investigations conducted by a regional authority.
  • Directs and facilitates scheduled regional authority public meetings in accordance with the Open Meetings Act and compliance with HRA program mandates.
  • Conducts public outreach to expand awareness and participatory interest in the HRA program.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
