About The Position

Stelumar Advanced Manufacturing Inc. (SAMI or Stelumar) is a technology-driven company dedicated to revolutionizing homebuilding in Canada through advanced modular building solutions. Founded by Canadian entrepreneur Peter Gilgan, founder of Mattamy Homes, Stelumar combines automation, robotics, and AI to modernize construction and help address the housing shortage. With state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in the Greater Toronto Area, Stelumar is focused on accelerating construction timelines, improving consistency and making housing more attainable. Stelumar produces precision-built walls, floors, and roofing systems, factory-built modular units, and interior cabinetry and millwork at industrial scale. Its development and construction arm, Stelumar Communities, delivers scalable modular housing from planning and design to construction and handover. The team supports low- and mid-rise residential, purpose-built rental, affordable and workforce housing, student housing, hospitality, healthcare-related housing, and institutional developments. Together, Stelumar is delivering housing people are proud of. The Manager, IT Operations – Manufacturing is a senior technical role operating at a Tier 3 level, carrying hands-on design authority and operational accountability for SAMI's core IT and OT infrastructure across a geographically distributed, technically complex enterprise. SAMI's footprint spans multiple facilities and business units, each requiring tailored technology approaches across server infrastructure, OT networking, MES integrations, PLC environments, shop floor technologies, and enterprise application connectivity. This is a broad-scope build and run role, with a mandate spanning ERP (Odoo) implementation and integration, MES and PLC connectivity, IT and OT network architecture, cloud and on-premises server infrastructure, DR/BCP execution, backup and data protection, cybersecurity operations, and AI enablement. The ideal candidate is a rigorous, ownership-minded technical practitioner who builds things right the first time, escalates strategically, and brings the depth to be the last line of technical defence before executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive, hands-on IT experience in a sophisticated manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with server infrastructure — including Windows Server administration, VMware/ESXi hypervisor management, Dell hardware platforms, and hybrid cloud integration.
  • Demonstrated Tier 3 ownership of DR and BCP programs at an infrastructure and application level.
  • Comprehensive hands-on experience with IT and OT network architecture across distributed manufacturing facilities — including LAN/WAN design, OT network segmentation.
  • Strong cybersecurity depth across both IT and OT environments.
  • Robust Microsoft 365 and Azure administration experience.
  • Working knowledge of how ERP, MES, PLC, and shop floor systems connect and exchange data in a manufacturing environment — sufficient to monitor integration health, identify data integrity or connectivity issues, coordinate vendor support effectively.
  • Working familiarity with AI and automation tooling in manufacturing or IT operations contexts.
  • Strong business acumen.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL/ITSM, PMP, CISSP/CISM, or cloud and infrastructure designations (Azure, AWS, VMware).
  • Relevant Master's degree is a strong asset.
  • Prior experience managing IT and OT environments across both manufacturing and construction or residential development contexts simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, value stream mapping, or Industry 4.0 frameworks applied to technology architecture decisions.
  • Hands-on experience with Odoo ERP administration and post-launch operations, including working knowledge of how Odoo connects with MES and shop floor systems in a manufacturing context.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, deployment, and ongoing operation of SAMI's server infrastructure across all facilities, ensuring capacity, patch compliance, and performance across all sites.
  • Architect and operate SAMI's backup and data protection infrastructure with direct accountability for ensuring recoverability at all times.
  • Design and own SAMI's DR and BCP infrastructure at a Tier 3 level — including failover architecture, site recovery procedures, and RTO/RPO attainment — and lead DR testing activities including tabletop exercises and live recovery rehearsals across the cabinet, panel, modular, and Stelumar Communities environments.
  • Accountable for IT and OT network infrastructure across all facilities.
  • Architect and operate SAMI's cybersecurity controls across IT and OT environments — including endpoint protection platforms, identity and access management, MFA enforcement, patch management strategy, vulnerability management programs, and OT-specific security standards.
  • Administer and optimize SAMI's cloud infrastructure, including Microsoft 365 platform architecture, Azure infrastructure design and management, and hybrid cloud-to-on-premises connectivity, ensuring cloud services are performant, governed, and cost-optimized.
  • Support the technical implementation, configuration, and ongoing operation of SAMI's ERP platform (Odoo) — including system configuration, user environment management, vendor coordination, and phased rollout support — and govern the operational health of connections between the ERP and manufacturing systems, ensuring data flows between ERP, MES, PLC environments.
  • Own the operational health and governance of system connections between SAMI's MES platforms, PLC environments, shop floor technologies, and enterprise systems — monitoring integration performance, coordinating vendor support for connectivity and data integrity issues.
  • Evaluate and implement AI use cases and automation tooling within manufacturing and IT operations contexts, identifying and delivering opportunities for process automation, predictive maintenance enablement, operational data visibility, and efficiency improvement across SAMI's production environments.
  • Conduct ongoing business impact analysis at the infrastructure and application level across all sites, identifying single points of failure, documenting cross-site dependencies, and driving architectural remediation in alignment with SAMI's enterprise resilience standards.
  • Serve as the Tier 3 technical escalation authority, resolving c multi-system, and cross-site incidents and managing vendor engagement for issues requiring external resolution.
  • Define and actively monitor infrastructure, integration, and security performance KPIs across all environments, instrumenting observability from initial deployment and driving continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
