About The Position

McGuireWoods LLP is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Manager, IT Observability & Incident Operations to join our technology leadership team. Reporting to the Director of IT Operations, this individual will be the primary architect of our real-time operational awareness. The successful candidate will lead a 24/7 team while breaking down technical silos to ensure seamless service delivery across all technology environments. Requirements

  • Minimum of five years in a high-pressure NOC, ITOC, or Cloud Ops environment, with experience in a formal leadership or team-lead capacity.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of SCOM, SolarWinds, and ServiceNow.
  • A technical leader who can command the respect of specialized engineering teams while maintaining the operational discipline of a 24/7 shift environment.
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex technical disruptions into clear, decisive updates for both technical teams and executive leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Willingness and desire to work with innovative technology platforms - our employees also have access to Harvey, a legal-specific AI tool that reduces time spent on routine tasks, allowing you to focus on more meaningful, high-impact work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience navigating the transition from On-Premises hardware to Azure/AWS cloud workloads is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the accountable lead for major incident triage, ensuring clear communication and rapid resolution across internal IT teams.
  • Direct a 24/7 ITOC staff, fostering a culture of urgency, accountability, and continuous professional development.
  • Design and implement streamlined escalation paths and operational "playbooks" that reduce risk and improve MTTR.
  • Lead the evolution of our monitoring philosophy, moving from legacy toolsets (SCOM, SolarWinds) toward modern SaaS and Cloud observability solutions.
  • Provide IT leadership with precise insights into service availability, capacity trends, and infrastructure health.
