Manager, Industry Solutions

Uplight
$115,000 - $135,000

About The Position

Uplight is creating a new category of energy. We build software that manages energy resources in homes and businesses—including things like smart thermostats, electric vehicles, solar panels, storage batteries, heat pumps, and even people’s behavior—to generate, shift, or save energy to balance the grid, making it more efficient and reliable. This creates clean energy capacity that can be used by the power grid instead of burning more fossil fuels. Our solutions accelerate the transition to clean energy and save money for energy customers. We are looking for a Manager of Industry Solutions to drive our company forward, and help us lead the clean energy revolution! How you will make an impact: As a Manager, Industry Solutions you will join our Industry Solutions team, a fast paced, results-oriented hands-on group focusing on delivering end-to-end business and technical solutions to Uplight’s customers and partners. Work closely with our sales team to understand customer business outcomes and requirements, and translate this into technical sales resources such as proposals and SOWs. Communicate and demo product and solution capabilities and use cases to prospects and existing customers. Deliver solutions across all of Uplight’s product offerings across the entire Demand Stack - encompassing solutions for customer engagement through flexibility management. Reporting to the Director of Industry Solutions, this position is a business leader and truly cross-functional: working closely with our partners, sales directors, sales operations, product managers and the implementation and services teams. This role takes a systems approach, bringing products, services and support together, to construct a powerful and attractive offer for Uplight’s customers. Understanding of how utility end customers think about their energy use and distributed energy resources (DERs) and can bring this to work with utility clients to shape programs that meet business outcomes and pay-for-performance targets.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated capability to support complete sales cycles and lead pre-sales presentation preparation, RFP responses, on-site demonstrations and provide input at deal closure on SOWs.
  • Strong electric/utility industry knowledge.
  • Highly familiar with emerging energy industry trends and implications on our customers; exposure to virtual power plants, demand side management, storage solutions, grid management and customer engagement programs.
  • Capability to quickly grasp customer priorities, perform rapid assessments of clients’ internal technology infrastructure and target business needs with Uplight’s application suite.
  • Facilitate internal communication between teams on technical requirements as they apply to customer use cases and business outcomes.
  • Ability to build business cases and use data for decision making.
  • Experience deploying software products in enterprise environments and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
  • BS/MS/PhD in engineering/science or equivalent work experience demonstrating technical competency (3-5 years).
