About The Position

PetSmart is seeking an Indirect Tax Manager, to manage sales and use tax audits and compliance. This is a critical position in the tax department at a multinational company with a variety of complex tax matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• 3+ years of indirect tax experience, preferably in retail.
• Strong business and accounting knowledge.
• High technical proficiency; ability to learn and optimize systems and processes.
• Adaptability and willingness to take on diverse tasks.

Nice To Haves

• SAP, Alteryx and/or Avalara experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage sales tax audits: coordinate auditor requests, review workpapers, and ensure timely completion. Follow up on findings to reduce exposure.
• Act as primary liaison for external filing team handling 4,000+ annual filings (sales/use tax, HST/GST/PST, and other miscellaneous filings). Prepare source documents and review filings for accuracy and timeliness.
• Oversee tax exemption certificate process.
• Mentor and develop team members.
• Collaborate across departments to identify tax issues, research solutions, and document findings to minimize tax obligations.
• Support accounting and finance activities including journal entries, reconciliations, forecasts, and budgets.
• Partner with external tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.
• Contribute to special projects as needed.
