About The Position

As the Manager, Immigration and Global Mobility, you will lead the University’s specialist team responsible for delivering high‑quality immigration, relocation and compliance services that support our strategic workforce goals. Working as part of the Senior Talent Acquisition leadership group, you will provide expert strategic advice to senior stakeholders, guide policy development, oversee complex cases, and ensure cohesive support for international candidates. You will also play a key role in managing risk, strengthening University processes, and keeping stakeholders informed of legislative and procedural changes as the University’s subject‑matter expert in immigration, global mobility and related salary packaging matters.

Requirements

  • extensive expertise in Australian visas and migration legislation, with the ability to interpret and apply complex requirements to a university environment
  • exceptional stakeholder, negotiation and customer‑service skills, building trusted relationships and influencing senior leaders on immigration, relocation and workforce strategies
  • proven leadership capability, including managing and coaching specialist teams, driving performance, and embedding best‑practice service delivery
  • strong strategic and operational partnership skills, working effectively with broader operations teams and external vendors to deliver cohesive, high‑quality solutions
  • advanced analytical, problem‑solving and risk‑management capability, including identifying compliance risks (immigration, work rights, FBT, salary packaging) and implementing effective mitigation strategies
  • highly developed communication, policy‑interpretation and advisory skills, with the ability to integrate complex policies, contribute to University‑wide initiatives, and provide expert guidance on global mobility, salary packaging and emerging sector trends.

Responsibilities

  • lead and oversee all immigration, relocation and salary‑packaging processes, ensuring exceptional end‑to‑end service delivery, continuous policy improvement, and alignment with University strategy
  • act as the University’s subject‑matter expert, providing tailored immigration and relocation advice for complex and senior cases, supporting strategic hires, and representing the University in relevant external forums
  • drive compliance and risk management, ensuring adherence to immigration legislation, sponsorship obligations, relocation governance, and timely reporting to Home Affairs, while partnering on compliance improvement initiatives
  • plan, manage and develop the Immigration and Global Mobility team, overseeing workload, mentoring staff, embedding best practice, and contributing to broader Senior Talent Acquisition leadership priorities
  • build strong relationships across the University and with external providers, delivering training, supporting strategic workforce needs, and ensuring high‑quality vendor performance
  • oversee governance, reporting and service metrics, ensuring data integrity, audit readiness, accurate cost processing, and achievement of KPIs that support high‑quality, compliant service delivery.
