About The Position

In alignment with Gift of Life Michigan’s core purpose and core values, the Manager, Hospital Development will oversee the day-to-day activities of the Gift of Life hospital development staff and assist in directing regional hospital service activities. The incumbent(s) will oversee all education activities, in services, medical record review process, data gathering, writing of hospital development plans and reports of the Hospital Donation Advocates (HDA’s) which will help facilitate the donation referral process. The activities of the incumbent(s) include orientation and training of new hospital services staff, as well as any special projects which may be assigned by the Director, Hospital Development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • At least three years of medical sales or applicable experience
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of Michigan hospital systems
  • At least one year’s experience in management or leadership role (project, team, workgroup).

  • Written and verbal fluency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensuring that hospital marketing and contact plans are developed and adhered to by the field representatives.
  • Ensure that a feedback reporting system is operating smoothly to provide management with marketing information and intelligence regarding the image of Gift of Life in the hospital environment.
  • Regularly report information to the director from a field perspective, on how to extend and improve Gift of Life's performance through continuous improvement.
  • Maintain relationships with hospital contacts for feedback opportunities on staffing and support for quality improvement.
  • Facilitate hospital training requests and promote organ/tissue donation policies.
  • Develop plan and execute organ and tissue related programs and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Direct and oversee the day-to-day work of assigned direct reports, set and communicate clear expectations, and provide coaching/guidance as necessary.
  • Provide ongoing formal and informal performance feedback, conducti performance reviews and/or corrective action discussions as necessary.
  • Support staff in setting performance goals and in furthering their professional development.
  • Observe the field staff regularly, as they relate to a broad variety of hospital personnel, including executive management, intensivists and critical care nursing staff.
  • Monitor and control the time accounting of hospital development field staff along with other staff such as Medical Record Review Coordinator, Referral Responders and Medical Examiner and Funeral Home Liaison.
  • Support and contribute to the achievement of organizational and department goals.
  • Support the bi-directional communication of organizational and department messaging between leadership and staff.
  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Manage other tasks required of supervisors such as time and attendance, staff change requests, and reporting.
