Influences the culture, management and leadership of safety issues by recommending / maintaining programs to proactively comply with regulatory and corporate level safety, health, emergency response and loss prevention requirements.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s of Science in engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience including health, safety and emergency management knowledge, alternatively 15 years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 3 years of prior management experience in Health & Safety programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Health, Safety and Emergency Response compliance systems: Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations and corporate OE standards. This includes field, permit and policy / procedural compliance and submittal of regulatory reports by the required deadlines.
  • Personnel: Provide leadership, guidance, development and performance management to the Health, Safety and Emergency Response groups to achieve compliance with regulatory and corporate health & safety standards and achieve continuous improvement in site safety performance.
  • Health & Safety Training: Ensures adequate processes are in place to provide required Health & Safety policy, procedure and requirements training to all plant personnel.
  • Interactions with regulatory agencies: Must communicate, negotiate and resolve complex issues with regulatory agencies concerning permits, reports and general site information.
  • Participation in community outreach activities: This position may involve interaction with the community including participating in Community Advisory Panels, Local Emergency Planning Committees, tours, school and civic club presentations, etc.
