About The Position

The Manager, Grid Operations has dual responsibility for both leadership and coaching of Grid Operations resources and fulfilling billable hours for project work. The Manager, Grid Operations oversees and provides support to Grid Operations team members focused on the advanced training of electric system operations. The Manager, Grid Operations is responsible for stepping into various roles on a client project and may be involved in front-end analysis, reviewing and consulting on as-is job responsibilities, on-the-job performance, work processes, and developing recommendations to improve operational performance. The position supports the design and development of training and evaluations for customers alongside Instructional Designers. The Manager, Grid Operations partners with the Vice President, Grid Operations to support team culture, provide timely feedback, and support the professional development of team members. The Manager is viewed as a trusted resource by the internal team, leadership, and clients.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills on multiple Mosaic projects with an ability to lead and influence teams and clients.
  • Experience holding project leadership roles, including PM, Workstream Lead, or other roles that required leadership of a team.
  • Ability to navigate complex and ambiguous situations using advanced interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
  • Eight plus years of experience as a System Operator, Dispatcher for electric transmission and/or distribution (e.g., electrical, generator, or grid operations training experience; system operating experience in an energy control center, or electrical generator operator experience).
  • Two plus years presenting electrical or operations training; experience creating simulation scenarios.
  • Experience with ABB, OSI, GE, or Schneider Electric systems and tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability in production deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diverse groups on a wide range of technical matters, including executive level leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay current with changing technology and learning trends.
  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an Electrical Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Position requires extensive travel and ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work location required.
  • Travel will be required depending on client/project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively gathers performance feedback and provide timely and effective coaching with a focus on areas of growth, opportunity, successes, and lessons learned.
  • Conducts performance review and feedback sessions with direct reports.
  • Cascades company communications to direct reports and provide leadership in adoption of change.
  • Identifies resource strengths and potential and adapts to different skills and styles to develop capabilities in direct reports and project team members.
  • Provides day-to-day support to team members and proactively finds solutions that address concerns.
  • Serves as a Mosaic brand ambassador to promote the Mosaic brand with employees, clients, and the community at large.
  • Collaborates with Managers across the organization to implement new ideas and best practices that result in growth and increased employee and customer success.
  • Partners with Grid Operations leadership to ensure that direct reports are meeting or exceeding performance expectations, meeting client and team expectations, and successful in their project role.
  • Works with Client Operations leaders to define/address personnel knowledge and skill gaps.
  • Leverages Electric Operations expertise and experience to develop role-based job/task analysis deliverables for electric operations job positions.
  • Provides industry expertise for the creation of future state "To Be" business process and derives the associated business outcomes.
  • Evaluates training materials and training effectiveness to ensure end-user needs are met, including upkeep of training database tracking end-user performance.
  • Promotes training/line partnership by developing a professional rapport with customers.
  • Partners with customers to derive training requirements related to Electric Operations job processes.
  • Partners with Instructional Design Consultants to design and develop training materials and continuing education for Operations job roles, using a variety of instructional media.
  • Collaborates on training delivery and supports customer training team to ensure that they meet training requirements.
  • Delivers lectures, group discussions, practice activities, and assessments in support of course objectives.
  • Partners with Instructional Design team to build scenarios for computer-based practice activities and generate related data to populate the online learning environment.
  • Act as a Trusted Advisor on electric operations projects to support overall electric operations project success.
