About The Position

The Front End & Catering Manager is responsible for managing the guest experience at Joseph's Classic Market through leadership of the cashier team, guest services, catering orders, and phone communication. This role ensures smooth front-end operations, exceptional hospitality, and accurate, on-time catering fulfillment. As a key guest-facing leader, the manager fosters a welcoming, professional atmosphere for every visitor.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years in customer service or front-end management, preferably in grocery or hospitality
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Professional phone etiquette and multitasking ability
  • POS/register experience and basic computer skills (Excel, email, ordering software)
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs
  • Available for flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing catering or event orders is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all front-end operations, including cashiers, baggers, and front desk staff
  • Ensure accurate register procedures, cash handling, and transaction speed
  • Monitor staffing levels to prevent long wait times at checkout
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized checkout and customer service area
  • Ensure proper functioning of POS systems and registers
  • Oversee the main phone line, ensuring all calls are answered promptly and professionally
  • Train staff to answer guest questions, transfer calls, and take messages accurately
  • Resolve guest issues, complaints, or refund requests quickly and professionally
  • Manage special requests, product inquiries, and order pickups
  • Serve as a key point of contact for VIP guests and regular customers
  • Serve as the lead contact for all catering inquiries and orders
  • Communicate with guests to confirm catering menus, details, and pickup/delivery logistics
  • Coordinate with kitchen, deli, and bakery departments for order preparation
  • Ensure catering orders are accurate, well-presented, and fulfilled on time
  • Maintain catering calendars, invoices, and order logs
  • Assist in building seasonal catering menus and promotional packages
  • Hire, train, and schedule front-end associates and guest service staff
  • Conduct cashier training on register use, policies, and customer engagement
  • Coach team on hospitality, communication, and professionalism
  • Hold daily huddles to align team on priorities, specials, and service goals
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide regular feedback
  • Lead by example in delivering friendly, personalized service
  • Support store events, tastings, and holiday rushes with front-end coordination
  • Monitor cleanliness, dress code, and customer interaction standards
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment from entrance to checkout
  • Monitor and report daily front-end sales, drawer over/shorts, and returns
  • Manage gift card sales, catering deposits, and service fees
  • Submit weekly catering reports and customer feedback to Store Manager
  • Communicate closely with all department managers to coordinate orders and service
