About The Position

The Manager of Fiber Construction is responsible for managing the Fiber Construction Engineers. The Manager will be responsible for leading and motivating the team in project planning, providing preliminary ISP/OSP field designs, managing project construction, budgets and required materials. The Fiber Construction Manager is expected to ensure standards are being followed. The Manager is expected to mentor, motivate, and assist the engineers to achieve their professional goals along with the corporate objectives. This position plays a key role in supporting the organization with the field design, installation, and support of the fiber optic network. A strong knowledge of the Pennsylvania utilities, processes to construct fiber optic networks and fiber engineering/construction contractors is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Fiber Construction Engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project completion.
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of fiber construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Oversee vehicle use of the team to ensure adherence to company standards around vehicle use and maintenance.
  • Assist in developing and implementing initiatives to improve the fiber construction process, including process optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and vendors, ensuring high-quality work with timely project delivery and deliverables.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, advocating for the company's interests and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, acting as an advocate for process and workflow adherence.
  • Utilize metrics and data-driven insights to assess project performance to make informed decisions.
  • Communicate requirements and specifications to the project staff and assist with any questions related to the technology, equipment, contractual and design requirements.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Maintain regular, consistent, professional attendance and punctuality according to company policies.
  • Oversee all safety policies are followed by internal employees and contractors.
  • Acts as an escalation point for all OSP/ISP damaged cable events.
  • Monitor and negotiate, as needed, OSP/ISP contractor unit, hourly pricing, and retainers on an annual basis.
  • Monitor and oversee both current and projected inventory, including fiber reels, cables, and splice equipment.
  • Engage with the NOC, Field Operations, Fiber Construction and Fiber Design teams on escalated Fiber Network impacting outage
  • Other duties as assigned
