About The Position

Responsibilities: -Oversee student workers and assist graduate students with research projects -Assist hay production operations -Operations of Center Pivot Irrigation System, including repairs. -Develop, implement and monitor budgets and operating plans to support mission of the facility and department in coordination with Livestock Operations manager and McGregor manager. -Construction and maintenance of fences; maintain equipment, buildings, and other structures at TAMU Beef Cattle Systems -Manage and coordinate an intensive research feeding program that incorporates a 'Growsafe System' and receiving pens. -Plant and maintain pastures, and maintain weed control program on pasture and fence rows -Manage 200 head cow/calf operation and 150 head stocker operation according to protocols and ensuring regulatory compliance -Perform other job-related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of related experience in farm management operations.
  • Knowledge of laboratory maintenance, equipment, and safety.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of farm operations and standard safety procedures.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity and exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to maintain an on-call schedule during evenings, weekends and holidays.
