Job Summary Nordson's Electronics Processing Systems (EPS) division delivers cutting-edge engineering and application expertise to global automotive, printed circuit board, and precision assembly manufacturers through innovative fluid dispensing and surface treatment solutions. The Facilities and EHS Manager will be tasked with supporting U.S. Operations for $230M++ division, with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance and operational excellence. The Facilities & EHS Manager is responsible for leading facility operations and Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS&S) programs for U.S. manufacturing sites within EPS Division of Nordson Corporation. This role oversees the design, planning, construction, maintenance, and operation of buildings, equipment, and infrastructure, while maintaining full accountability for EHS compliance and performance at Carlsbad, CA and Chandler, AZ locations. This position ensures a safe, compliant, and efficient working environment by driving a strong culture of safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. The Facilities & EHS Manager serves as a subject matter expert and provides consultation to other corporate and divisional sites as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in facility management, Environmental Health and Safety engineering, or business; equivalent work experience accepted.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility management; including experience managing in a manufacturing environment with multiple facilities.
  • Current “Hands On” facilities technician experience
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, issues, situations to develop timely, effective solutions.
  • Background in construction management-electrical, HVAC, plumbing and negotiating.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements and hazardous waste requirements.
  • Ability to read blueprints and other technical documentation.
  • Experience with facility and preventive maintenance.
  • Experience with emergency and disaster response.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact in a positive, respectful manner; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with space utilization, facility and production layout; Lean 3P methods preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drives engagement in safety vision, Journey to Zero (JTZ), to prevent incidents through focus on unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Develops facility plans and budgets in line with annual operating plan; proposes annual Capex Budget.
  • Plans, budgets, and schedules facility modifications and renovations, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs.
  • Provides analysis and justification for the facilities Capex spend.
  • Performs diligence on new facilities, acquired facilities or facility expansions.
  • Oversees the coordination of building space allocation and layout.
  • Provides facility oversight and planning to support production ramps including modifications to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, as well as providing storage needs.
  • Establishes, executes and controls environmental, health, safety and security standards.
  • Assures site is compliant with local, state laws concerning regulatory EHS requirements.
  • Coordinates local, state, and corporate audits.
  • Identifies, solicits approval, and implements campus security program and improvements.
  • Partners with corporate EHSS to develop policy and procedures to assure a compliant EHSS program.
  • Implement safety strategy through JTZ streeting committee, install containment and preventative measures to enhance safety for all sites.
  • Manages a network of external resources (suppliers, contractors) as well as internal resources to achieve intended results.
  • Negotiates contracts and provides oversight of service providers including janitorial, HVAC, landscaping, and others as appropriate.
  • Manage Velocity EHS Contractor Program to ensure third part contractors at Nordson facilities meet all Nordson’s standards and requirements.
  • Responds to facilities alarms with containment and corrective action as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.
