About The Position

The SRM NA Manager is a strategic, senior purchasing role in support of Electrification Materials Strategy & Operations (EMSO) group which reports globally through Sustainable Raw Materials (SRM). The Manager will have responsibility to lead the strategy development and management of critical SRM commodities globally while collaborating within EMSO (which includes Business Development, Project Management and ESG for EV critical minerals projects) and with cross functional departments. The position will provide comprehensive oversight from beginning to end for all internal and external supplier partner activities as it relates to planning, strategy, sourcing, contract management, cost management, quality, and supply. Additional responsibility for developing and executing the commodity strategy, jointly with engineering & global Purchasing team.   Additionally, this position will report indirectly to the Vice-President: SRM – EMSO responsible for “data management and strategy” globally as a secondary responsibility.   This position reports out regularly to leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, or closely related field from an ABET accredited university
  • 10 years of purchasing or closely related relevant experience
  • Significant negotiation experience including non-standard agreements
  • Strong analytical skills, strong communication skills and are highly customer focused
  • Ability to work globally and lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong fluency with MS Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Commodity Scope: Electrification Materials Strategy & Operations within Sustainable Raw Material Management
  • Creation, implementation, maintenance of the commodity strategy (cost and technology roadmap)
  • Application of best practices and lessons learned throughout all planning, development, execution phases including contract best practices
  • Cost Models including competitor benchmarking
  • Supplier Performance plans - including scope of cost, quality, supply KPI's
  • Support development/ execution, along with technical teams and EMSO Project Management
  • Work hand in hand with key interface groups: Value Optimization, Product Development, Cost Engineering, Innovation, Business Development, Manufacturing, Regulatory Compliance, Finance, Supply Chain, and Supplier Operations
  • Drive cost savings, commercial and technical
  • Critical minerals supply and demand management
  • Develop sourcing roadmap and raw material securitization plans
  • Execute sourcing of new programs to meet cost, timing and quality objectives
  • Issue and maintain purchase order and non-standard contracts
  • Ensure there is process for directed buy components in order to ensure the cost and terms are understood and the process for ongoing management (RASIC) is defined
  • Ensure ongoing supply
  • Provide timely, relevant and actionable management reporting for commodity cost status, supplier performance, open issues and potential constraints
  • Awareness and inclusion of all engineering changes, supplier process/performance issues, to meet program timing deliverables
  • Given the complexity of the data with EMSO (as a truly cross-functional team), lead the development and execution of the data management strategy for the global team – including Teams/Sharepoint, database management, etc.
