About The Position

Amentum is seeking an ES&H Manager to support operations at the DOE National Energy Technology Laboratory. This position will involve working closely with federal and contractor, researchers, site technicians, engineers, and other ES&H professionals. The candidate must have very good written and excellent verbal communications skills. They must be proficient with the suite of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and Teams. The candidate must also have a thorough understanding of relevant regulations and standards such as OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and DOT. This position under minimal supervision, manages, develops and implements ES&H programs. Mentors, coaches and supervises ES&H Specialists assigned to the same project. Performs work, which involves a variety of functions that require a broad range of expertise and excellent communication skills.May be responsible for an ES&H program on a large, specialized, complex project or multiple projects. Recognizes, evaluates, recommends and implements policies and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with ES&H requirements of the organization. Responsible for monitoring and preventing chemical, biological, physical hazards and diseases present throughout work sites. Reviews and incorporates health standards published by regulatory authorities. Ensures that quality control procedures are established to monitor all aspects of regulations. Develop or review all necessary reports for the DOE customer. Directs audits of health and safety programs to identify and control significant loss producing exposure. Must keep fully informed on all existing and proposed changes in occupational health and safety regulations. Develops and provides ES&H training to employees. Promotes communication programs to enhance and encourage employee awareness of accident and fire prevention, industrial hygiene and environmental compliance. Plans develops and directs the personnel within the Safety Function of the organization. Local travel required on a regular basis and long-distance travel required one to two times per year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry or an applied science field or demonstrated equivalent.
  • This is a management level position with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Certification in CIH, CSP, or CHP should be pursued or completed.
  • Must have very good written and excellent verbal communications skills.
  • Must be proficient with the suite of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of relevant regulations and standards such as OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and DOT.
  • Local travel required on a regular basis and long-distance travel required one to two times per year.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Safety, Health, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry or MBA preferred.
  • Experience in DOE National Laboratory environment highly preferred.
