Job overview and responsibilities This role can be described as a “player-coach”, where it encompasses the technical duties of a Principal Engineer, but also has people-leadership responsibilities. The technical duties may include the ownership of specific aircraft, powerplant, cabins/interiors, systems, maintenance programs or service engineering and will have direct operational support of the aircraft, engine, or components. The technical aspect of this role also includes the review of documentation generated by engineering staff members. It’s also expected that this role interfaces with such entities as the OEMs, FAA and other industry committees. In addition, they also lead a team of 3-7 engineers in their area of expertise and is responsible for resource management, assignment of work, employee development and coaching along with performance reviews and management of administrative duties such as timecard and expense report approvals (list not exhaustive).
