The Business Development Manager is responsible for generating new group business opportunities for the property. This role focuses exclusively on prospecting and developing relationships with new clients and organizations that have not previously conducted business with the resort with its role dedicated to expanding the property's client base by identifying, engaging, and converting new organizations into first-time group customers. The position works closely with the Hotel Sales and Catering teams to transition newly secured business into the appropriate sales manager once a relationship is established. Requirements

  • Minimum Five (5) years of selling group business at a hotel property.
  • Proficiency in Amadeus/Delphi.
  • Able to obtain and maintain an Alcohol Awareness (TAM) card and any other certification or license.
  • Able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Broad understanding of Hotel Sales strategies and techniques
  • Minimum education level of High school diploma or GED.
  • Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a minimum of five years of previous relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of Delphi or other similar catering sales system.
  • Working knowledge of Tripleseat preferred.
  • Food Handler’s Card and ServeSafe Certified or able to obtain during the probationary period.
  • Catering Software and/or CRM Software knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create and foster a work environment focused on teamwork, open communication, recognition, fairness and employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Perform daily oversight of the Catering & Services team to ensure all operating procedures are being followed and correction action is taken when necessary.
  • Work with Vice President of Catering & Event Sales, Director of Banquets, Executive Banquet Chef to create all standard operation procedures for banquet & special event operations.
  • Manage, coordinate and execute groups ensuring all contractual agreements pertaining to guest room blocks, meeting space, food and beverage minimums and concessions are fulfilled.
  • Work with other departments to ensure Catering & Special Events Department maintains all necessary county and city licenses and permits including health and fire code permits.
  • Conduct daily and weekly meetings to ensure timely, complete and accurate communication is given to supporting departments to ensure groups’ needs are met.
  • Generate incremental revenue through upselling techniques, menu and beverage creation and pricing and working with vendors to drive commissionable revenue to the department.
  • Assist the team with creating accurate and complete BEOs, resumes and invoices.
  • Accurately forecast revenue for budget, labor and positive financial performance of the department.
  • Oversee the successful financial performance of the department by evaluating labor cost, cost of goods, inventory control and proper revenue recording.
  • Manage, mentor, train and coach the Convention & Services Team.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with vendors, clients and other departments within the resort.
  • Maintain detailed information and reporting in Delphi to ensure accurate forecasting and consumption revenue.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.
