As a Benefits Manager, you will support the Director, Total Rewards by project‑managing multiple benefits workstreams and providing senior‑level expertise across Knauf Insulation’s health, welfare & wellbeing programs and company benefit policies. Although it has no direct people management responsibility, it is a key resource for HR Managers, HR Generalists and external vendors, with deep knowledge of our benefits and internal systems. As a subject matter expert, the Manager, Benefits enhances existing programs and develops new initiatives that strengthen Knauf Insulation’s employer‑of‑choice positioning. The role leads research, implementation and adoption of benefits offerings, while identifying cost‑saving opportunities and process improvements to optimize program effectiveness and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of benefit management experience
  • Must have previous benefit administration experience
  • Attention to detail; highly organized with effective time management; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; able to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend actions.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas); proficient across Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in benefits administration systems.
  • Working knowledge of ACA, FMLA, HIPAA, COBRA, FSA, HRA, and ERISA; sound grasp of benefits concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Able to handle confidential information with high integrity; communicate complex benefits information clearly.
  • Customer‑focused with a consultative approach; able to partner with colleagues internally and externally.
  • Effective cross‑department communication; organizational agility to collaborate and influence across a multi‑location organization.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage processes with minimal oversight; proactive self‑starter who can drive initiatives and deliver results.
  • Project management skill.
  • Broad knowledge across HR functional areas in fast‑paced, technically focused environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and administer employee benefit programs, such as health insurance plans, and wellness initiatives, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
  • Review & recommend new or modified programs/benefits in conjunction with Director, Total Rewards.
  • Maintain understanding of market trends and legal implications of potential changes; provides recommendations to Director, Total Rewards on opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize benefits offerings, providing cost-effective and attractive packages to meet the diverse needs of our workforce in conjunction with the Director, Total Rewards.
  • Identifies and implements strategies to drive better health care consumer behavior through education.
  • Evaluate and compare existing benefits programs with those of other employers through analysis of other plans, survey data, and other sources of information. Also, complete industry surveys.
  • Provide ongoing analysis on trends, legislative changes and best practices within the benefits field.
  • Understand aggregate population health metrics and use this information to propose and implement programs to improve targeted health outcomes.
  • Subject matter expert in supporting the HR team and other business groups by answering questions, providing information, and completing analysis.
  • Coordinate Administrative Installation with insurance carrier and participate in installation meetings.
  • Manage the Annual Enrollment process including benefit administration system updates.
  • Ensure the benefit administration system is current, troubleshooting issues that may arise.
  • Manage and champion the Wellbeing Program and support the Knauf Wellbeing strategy
  • Act as a liaison between outside administrators (TPA, insurance carriers and voluntary benefit providers) and customers (HR, payroll, employees, and retirees) to ensure timely resolution of eligibility and claim disputes as well as effective administration of company plans.
  • Manage population health programs, such as flu shots, health fairs, onsite biometric screenings, and wellness activities across multiple locations.
  • Keep a “pulse” on the organization as it relates to benefit programs, pain points, suggestions, and priorities.
  • Co-lead with Director, Total Rewards on policy renewals.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices, evaluate benchmark data, and recommend improvements or modifications to existing benefit programs.
  • Collect and analyze data on benefits usage and trends to make informed recommendations for program adjustments.
  • Ensure data integrity by running and analyzing parallel reports (ADP, Bswift).
  • Troubleshoot and correct file-feed errors.
  • Partner with the benefit administration system (Bswift), payroll system (ADP) and carrier/vendor teams to ensure system configuration is correct and address system issues.
  • Use strong data analysis skills to identify and isolate any possible issues or opportunities for improvement, and drive the process to remediate the issue.
  • Test systems and interfaces, perform reconciliations, run reports, and conduct analyses for ongoing processes and special projects. Will be asked to make recommendations to improve/resolve issues, as necessary.
  • Lead the development and delivery of benefit-related communication materials, brochures, and online resources.
  • Partners with Director, Total Rewards to align and communicate strategies, ensuring good customer service and accurate systems updates.
  • Communicate benefit options and changes to employees through various channels.
  • Stay up to date with relevant legislation, regulatory changes, and compliance requirements, ensuring our benefit programs remain legally compliant.
  • Ensure all compliance activities are completed, any issues are resolved, and all required reporting is completed.
  • Ensure compliance with all ERISA, ACA and DOL requirements.
  • Ensure benefit plans are administered according to plan provisions and company's regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform tasks related to compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), including the preparation of reports and filings required by federal and state agencies.
