What you can expect as a Major Gifts Officer As we approach our bicentennial in 2029, our Development team is on a trajectory to double fundraising revenue over the next three years. We are seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Major Gifts Officer to join us at this pivotal moment. In this role, you won’t just be raising money; you’ll be building the resources necessary to scale Perkins’ mission across the globe. You will manage a high-level portfolio, crafting strategies for five- and six-figure investments that empower children with multiple disabilities and visual impairments to reach their full potential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of successful major gift fundraising experience (preferred). We will also consider candidates with a proven track record in high-level relationship management or luxury sales.
  • A genuine passion for Perkins’ mission and the ability to translate complex programs into compelling, high-stakes solicitations.
  • Skilled in Salesforce and Google Workspace.
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills; you should be as comfortable drafting a formal proposal as you are hosting a donor at a campus event.
  • Unwavering commitment to handling sensitive donor information with the highest level of confidentiality and integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with international fundraising is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage a portfolio of 150+ donors and prospects, focusing on gifts of $10,000 to $100,000+.
  • Donor Engagement: Maintain an active schedule of face-to-face meetings and personalized communication to build deep, lasting relationships.
  • Strategic Solicitation: Develop and execute creative strategies for annual, multi-year, endowed, and planned gifts.
  • Pipeline Growth: Aggressively identify and qualify new prospects to support our upcoming comprehensive campaign.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside the Managing Director of Development, program leaders, and volunteers to align donor passions with organizational priorities.
  • Maintain precise records in Salesforce, ensuring all contact reports, pipeline statuses, and donor briefings are current and actionable.
