About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Major Gifts Officer manages a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors to advance the organization's mission of providing compassionate hospice and palliative care services. This role is responsible for cultivating meaningful relationships, securing philanthropic support, and strengthening donor engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Fundraising experience required with examples of proven success.
  • Valid Driver's License

  • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration as well as the ability to work well independently and collectively with a diverse team of donor/prospect constituency.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Foundation Leadership and other key stakeholders to pursue coordinated and strategic program of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major and/or planned giving prospects and donors
  • Develop a major and planned giving portfolio (approx. 125-150) of qualified individuals, corporations, and foundations by implementing major ($10k+) and planned giving strategies to cultivate and solicit new donors
  • Conduct a minimum of 10 meaningful donor/prospect visits per month (in-person or virtual)
  • Build long-term relationships through consistent outreach and personalized communication
  • Identify, qualify, and move prospects through the donor pipeline
  • Maintain a regular schedule of visits with prospects and donors to continually engage, cultivate and steward the donors in the portfolio
  • In collaboration with Foundation leadership, assist with seeking grant funding and managing the submission process including grant writing, data collection, timely application.
  • Manage and grow the planned giving program, including identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors; and, where appropriate, educating donors about estate planning and planned gift opportunities (such as bequests) to encourage membership in the Swift Planned Giving Society.
  • Plan and participate in various donor cultivation and stewardship activities and events such as the Swift Society Planned Giving annual event, annual donor recognition events, targeted donor cultivation activities and other planned giving events and activities
  • Must have the ability to integrate internal and external partners with outreach in the community
  • Must have deep understanding and intent to implement a practice of moves management, including identification, qualification, cultivation and solicitation
  • Provide regular reports on portfolio activity, visit metrics, and revenue performance
  • Track progress toward goals using defined KPI
  • Develop content for Journeys magazine, donor communication materials, and grant proposals
  • Expected to perform additional duties.
