About The Position

The Major Gifts Officer is a key member of the Philanthropy team and will have primary responsibility for developing, establishing, and maintaining the Major Gifts Program at SFAF. This position managers the Foundation Giving Circle, SFAF’s major giving circle of donors $2,500 and above. They are responsible for overseeing prospect management, major gift cultivation events, and strengthening our Planned Giving Program as well. Managing a portfolio or 150 donors they will work with the Individual Giving team to craft strategies, set annual and multi-year goals, and craft personalized giving strategies.

Requirements

  • Self-directed, performance-oriented individual who has demonstrated initiative and achievement of goals.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills and ability to develop strong relationships with donors.
  • Strong sense of fundraising ethics and respect for confidentiality of donor information
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems (Salesforce, Blackbaud, etc), and search functions for donor research purposes (ie. Wealth Engine).
  • Minimum of five years of direct experience managing fundraising portfolios with demonstrated success in closing gifts of $10,000 and above.
  • Demonstrated success and effectiveness in identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, closing, and stewarding planned and major gift prospects.
  • Experience with strategic planning best practices and implementation tactics.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with a portfolio of 150+ major gift prospects, ensuring that each portfolio donor has a clear strategy and timeline for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Expand a formal Major Gifts program, routinize Major Donor relations and increase revenue across donors.
  • Work with the Philanthropy team and SFAF leadership to establish and meet annual goals for gift revenue.
  • Ensure portfolios are accurate and up to date with regards to contact reports, moves management, and documentation of other milestones.
  • Promote SFAF’s fundraising priorities through developing excellent relationships with key stakeholders.
