About The Position

The role of Major Gifts Officer reports to the Director of Development Administration. This position is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with individuals to secure significant financial contributions for the organization's strategic priorities. This position is responsible for developing donor strategies, crafting funding proposals, managing a portfolio of prospects, and collaborating with hospital leadership and board members to meet fundraising goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive non-profit fundraising experience, with a preferred focus in healthcare.
  • Proven track record of closing five- to seven-figure gifts
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with high-level donors and internal stakeholders
  • Sophisticated understanding of donor-centered fundraising and philanthropic motivations
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into compelling proposals
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Previous experience using donor databases for managing records and tracking activity

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, focusing on long-term, philanthropic relationships.
  • Develop and implement strategies for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gifts.
  • Serve in a lead role in soliciting and closing major gifts through face-to-face visits and strategic contacts.
  • Create and execute major gifts materials, such as briefing memos, proposals, and stewardship reports.
  • Manage and maintain portfolio activity to meet or exceed fundraising revenue and visit goals.
  • Work closely with hospital leaders, board members, and development team to coordinate fundraising initiatives and engage donors effectively, including reporting, research, and analysis.
  • Assist in executing campaigns and donor related events.
