About The Position

The Major Gifts Officer serves as a key relational bridge between donors and Proverbs 31 Ministries, ensuring donors feel known, valued, and inspired by the impact of their giving. The Major Gift Officer is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of major donors through meaningful, mission-centered relationships that inspire generosity and long-term partnership. Working under the leadership of the Director of Donor Development, this role executes personalized donor strategies that advance the mission of Proverbs 31 Ministries: that women will know and live out the truth of God’s Word…because it changes everything.

Requirements

  • An understanding of and a commitment to the mission and values of Proverbs 31 Ministries.
  • Bachelor’s degree required with 3–5 years of successful major gifts fundraising, relational sales, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting, and closing five- and six-figure gifts.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport, listen well, and communicate vision compellingly in one-on-one settings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including donor correspondence and proposal development.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple donor relationships and priorities.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems and nonprofit fundraising technologies required.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism when working with confidential donor information.

  • Experience with Virtuous CRM or similar donor management platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of approximately 75–125 major donors and prospects, capable of giving $10k+ annually.
  • Develop and execute individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans.
  • Proactively identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects with the goal of securing five- and six-figure gifts.
  • Achieve defined annual revenue goals through strategic cultivation, solicitation, upgrades, and multi-year commitments.
  • Engage with donors regularly through in-person meetings (travel required), video calls, phone conversations , written correspondence, and events to cultivate authentic, trust-based relationships.
  • Partner with the Director of Donor Development to align individual donor strategies with overall fundraising goals, campaigns, and ministry priorities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Program teams to ensure donors receive timely, compelling impact reporting.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of donor events, experiences, and ministry touchpoints that deepen donor connection and engagement.
  • Accurately document donor interactions, moves, and outcomes in the CRM to support effective moves management, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Support recurring giving growth and donor upgrades by identifying opportunities within the major donor portfolio.
  • Represent Proverbs 31 Ministries with excellence and authenticity at events, meetings, and ministry initiatives.
  • Stay informed on best practices in major gifts fundraising, donor stewardship, and nonprofit development, ensuring ethical and relational excellence in all donor interactions.
  • Perform other development-related duties as assigned in support of the Donor Development team.
