About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Director of Philanthropy, you will play a critical role in advancing Larkin Street’s mission by building and sustaining strong relationships with individual major donors and prospects. The Major Gift Officer manages a portfolio of approximately 110–150 donors and prospects, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts at the five-figure and six-figure levels. This role is a key contributor to Larkin Street’s upcoming three-year, $10 million growth campaign, a growth campaign designed to significantly expand resources in support of ending youth homelessness. This role will actively support campaign planning, donor strategy, and solicitations, working in close partnership with the Senior Director of Philanthropy, Chief Development Officer, CEO, Board members, and cross-functional teams. The position partners closely with senior leadership and agency stakeholders to grow philanthropic revenue, deepen donor engagement, and advance organizational priorities. This is a full-time position, eligible for full benefits.

Requirements

  • You are passionate about the Larkin Street Youth Services mission to end youth homelessness.
  • You have 3-5 years of experience working in non-profit fundraising, with experience in corporate partnerships, community organizations, and/or volunteer coordination.
  • You have graduated with a Bachelor's Degree at minimum from an accredited college or university.
  • You demonstrated track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing significant gifts, including five-figure and six-figure contributions.
  • You have strong strategic thinking skills, including experience with donor analytics, forecasting, and portfolio management.
  • You have exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage donors from diverse backgrounds.
  • You have a high level of organization, initiative, and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • You are experienced in workplace software, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce, SharePoint, RingCentral is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a blended portfolio of 110–150 major donors and prospects through strategic, relationship-based fundraising.
  • Identify, qualify, and cultivate new major gift prospects using data-driven research, donor analytics, and thoughtful engagement strategies.
  • Develop and execute individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans, including virtual meetings, in-person visits, and targeted donor experiences.
  • Secure major gifts in support of annual, programmatic, capital, and special funding priorities, including leadership and principal gifts aligned with the growth campaign.
  • Support legacy and planned giving efforts by identifying and making appropriate planned giving asks to qualified donors.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, Board members, and cross-functional teams to coordinate donor strategies, gather timely program and financial information, and produce compelling proposals and campaign materials.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date donor records in Salesforce, including strategies, moves management, and contact reports; produce regular portfolio and performance reports.
  • Manage campaign-specific donor pipelines, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
  • Assist with donor-related logistics, including lifting or moving materials, supplies, or donations for events or engagements (up to 20 pounds).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively across Development, Programs, Marketing & Communications, and Partnerships teams to align fundraising strategies with organizational priorities and campaign goals.
  • Support and leverage agency-wide events, donor briefings, and campaign-related engagement opportunities to strengthen relationships and introduce new prospects.
  • Create and refine high-quality donor-facing materials, including proposals, presentations, donor decks, campaign materials, impact reports, and written updates.
  • Develop customized cases for support that reflect donor interests and values while advancing Larkin Street’s strategic goals and growth campaign priorities.
  • Participate in ongoing fundraising training, professional development, and performance evaluation.
  • Contribute to department planning, forecasting, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support other development initiatives as needed.
