About The Position

Performs a wide variety of complex electrical and mechanical maintenance work, involving repair / and preventive maintenance of machines, or equipment and their related controls. Will work a substantial portion of the time in areas involving electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatics. Must actively participate in a team-based environment. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for maintaining, rebuilding and repairing complex equipment or machines and their related controls. Will diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform corrective actions with minimum supervision. Must provide accurate documentation of work efforts in both electronic and paper media. Must be able to read, interpret and follow complex schematics, blueprints, and drawings to facilitate troubleshooting to make repairs, alignments, fits or installations of parts and materials on equipment. Required to disassemble, overhaul, and reassemble intricate mechanisms, machines, and sub-assemblies involving complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and lubricating systems. Responsible for preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs of various types of machines or equipment, such as, conventional turning, milling machines, drills, grinders, welding equipment, furnaces, and various process equipment, including their related control and devices; such as relays, motor starters, control valves, pressure switches, and PLC’s. Perform service and repair various systems and components for chemical or caustic process equipment such as tanks, piping, and sumps. Required to operate or work with qualified operators or support teams to validate corrective actions and demonstrate satisfactory operating condition. Responsible for operating various types of moving or material handling equipment used in repair work, such as forklift trucks, platform lifts trucks, and hoists. Must be able to utilize electrical, hydraulic and mechanical test equipment such as recorders, multimeters, vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, electronic levels and other test equipment as required. Performs duties and tasks conforming to all safety regulations and procedures, such as LOTO, confined space, fall protection/arrest, hot work, and NFPA 70e. Keep facilities, materials and work areas clean and orderly, exercising good housekeeping practices and following all safety regulations. Must actively participate in a team-based environment which includes, but not limited to the following: active participation in daily team meetings and activities, cooperates and relates well with others, practices direct professional communication with team members, and is open to new ideas from team members and considers opinions different from their own. In the team environment, a maintenance team coordinator role needs to be designated in routine and emergency situations and may be required as needed on each shift. Collaboration between the maintenance coordinator role and the team is required to ensure group viability, shift accountability, and to provide effective customer support. The team will determine the coordinator for a given shift. Machine and process equipment maintenance technicians will have the option to act in the maintenance coordinator role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and shop Math, including Algebra, Geometry, Decimals and Fractions required.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective listening, oral and written communication skills.
  • Read and interpret complex mechanical and electrical drawings, blueprints, sketches, and schematics.
  • Three years’ experience in industrial maintenance work to include mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic experience.
  • Able to handle heavy materials using approved devices such as fork truck, hoists, cranes or manual lifting if in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Experience performing duties and tasks conforming to all safety regulations and procedures, such as LOTO, confined space, hot work permits, and NFPA 70e.
  • Must be able to utilize electrical, hydraulic and mechanical test equipment such as recorders, multimeters, vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, electronic levels and other test equipment as required.
