Dismantles machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists Reassembles machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work Starts machines and observes mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems Inspects or tests damaged machine parts, and marks defective areas or advises supervisor of repair needs Lubricates or applies adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures Installs, replaces, or changes machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications Records production, repair, and machine maintenance information Reads maintenance repair work orders and specifications to determine machine and equipment requiring repair or maintenance Sets up and operates machines, and adjust controls to regulate operation Collaborates with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment Maintains equipment files and orders spare-parts inventory on service center equipment and work effectively with operations to implement a preventive maintenance program to improve equipment uptime (or reliability) May occasionally drive company motor vehicle (non-DOT) for local pick-up for parts Comply with all safety regulations and procedures Maintain a clean and orderly work area and promote the same throughout the facility Perform highly diverse duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service Perform basic machinist duties and responsibilities Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and make adjustments Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities as prescribed in the preventative/predictive maintenance plan Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
