About The Position

This position involves very frequent physical labor in unskilled and semi-skilled work in the continuous maintenance, repair, and operation of airfield equipment as well as heavy machinery. Employees perform essential functions as outlined herein according to the functional assignment area. Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with one-year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum requirement: Class E Florida Driver’s License.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Requires some judgment in selection of procedures, methods, tools, equipment and own work practices to accomplish tasks.
Ability to operate tractors and other heavy equipment.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to operate equipment safely.
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Ability to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns. Responsibilities

Operates tractors and other heavy machinery.
Operates various mowing equipment.
Performs maintenance of air conditioner units.
Cleaning and painting of buildings.
Performs minor repairs of buildings.
Performs minor maintenance repairs of vehicles and other machinery.
Operating tools such as gas-powered grass trimmers and saws.
Performs spraying for weed control.
Performs minor pavement repairs.
Required to report to work at the appointed hour, as scheduled, and to work the entire assigned schedule.
Sets up and takes down tables and chairs for scheduled programs and events. May perform event set-ups, clean-ups and setting up barriers.
Moves office furniture and performs emergency or accident cleanup.
Supports other workers in the event of absence.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
