About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining various pouch, can, and bag production lines, including associated casers, depalletizers, and palletizers. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high‑quality operations through proper documentation, equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The technician supports continuous improvement efforts, performs sanitation tasks, and follows Nestlé Quality Management System (QMS) and Waverly Norms.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and control line equipment – 40%
  • Repair, troubleshoot equipment, create/complete work orders – 20%
  • Quality checks / Line relief – 10%
  • Equipment changeovers – 10%
  • Inventory consumptions and reversals – 5%
  • Inspections and preventive maintenance – 5%
  • General housekeeping and sanitation – 5%
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor – 5%
  • Supply machine centers with packaging and raw materials.
  • Inspect and verify materials for accuracy and compliance with CCP requirements.
  • Reject damaged or non‑conforming materials.
  • Maintain sanitation consistent with food manufacturing standards.
  • Communicate effectively with operators, mechanics, and management.
  • Follow Waverly safety objectives and plant safety rules.
  • Report incidents and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Follow the Safety Management System.
  • Adhere to the Nestlé USA Waverly Environmental Policy.
  • Support pollution prevention, energy conservation, and solid waste minimization.
  • Contribute to environmental improvement initiatives across the plant.
  • Safely operate and adjust packaging equipment.
  • Modify running conditions as needed to maintain performance standards.
  • Interact with vendors, contractors, and other Nestlé facilities as required.
  • Accurately complete production, quality, and inventory documentation.
  • On‑the‑job training by qualified peers.
  • Standard in‑plant courses and occasional off‑site training.
  • Typical training period: 4–6 weeks.
  • Annual training from QA, Safety, Environmental, and HR departments.
