Requirements

  • General knowledge of electrical and HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, security equipment, furniture systems, and building components.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality results.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills when interacting with internal teams and vendors.
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to fifty pounds and occasionally heavier loads.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from elevated positions, and navigate tight or awkward spaces.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and repetitive motion throughout the workday.
  • Capability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively (e.g., drills, saws, wrenches, screwdrivers).
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and sustained physical effort in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in building maintenance or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the upkeep, repair, and improvement of BIW buildings and grounds to make the campus a well‑maintained, functional, and safe environment for associates.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks to ensure ongoing operational reliability.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve facility issues. Perform maintenance and minor repairs on building systems, furniture, and structural components.
  • Escalate issues to outside suppliers (e.g., electricians, plumbers) as needed, and oversee work performed to ensure supplier follows BIW standards for safety, quality, and service.
  • Provide support for workspace reconfigurations, relocation of personnel, as well as equipment/furniture transfers across campus.
  • Follow all BIW safety regulations, procedures, and reporting expectations, maintaining a clean and hazard‑free work environment.
  • Identify, communicate, and resolve potential safety hazards promptly; escalate risks to the Facilities Team Lead as needed.
  • Ensure safe operation of all tools, machinery, and equipment; using personal protective equipment as required.
