About The Position

Responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the Academy in coordination with the agency’s mission.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Must be able to make fair, sound and reasonable decisions; have good communication and organizational skills.
• Must have some knowledge of maintenance repair in order to perform unskilled & semi-skilled maintenance repair.
• Must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs or move heavy materials in difficult work positions.
• May be exposed to high & low temperature; may be exposed to inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day activities of the Academy maintenance, including equipment and machinery, HVAC, building lighting systems, grounds keeping, security and the overall facility appearance.
• Performs unskilled and semi-skilled minor electrical repair (e.g., bulbs, lighting fixtures, switches, outlets) and assists in skilled electrical repair and/or installation.
• Performs basic plumbing and basic electrical wiring repair.
• Performs general maintenance of grounds, including outside custodial duties such as snow removal and mowing.
• Performs minor repair of grounds equipment.
• Responds to emergency maintenance requests as needed. May be required to work evening shift.
• Responsible for hazardous waste disposal and storage in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Provides staff and youth training in safety practices pertaining to operation of hand tools.
• Supervises youth involved in appropriate maintenance projects, ensuring their safety.
• Provides a positive role model for them to emulate.
• Provides therapeutic interventions to residents as part of the facility’s Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) and/or Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) services (mentoring and coaching on work ethics, safety and basic job skills, independent living skills etc.).
• When providing TBS/PSR services, documents the interactions through accurate and timely session notes.
• Maintains 24/7 on-call availability in case of emergent maintenance issues.
• Keeps up on technological changes to meet today’s new laws and efficiency standards.
• Completes child abuse referrals as required of all mandated reporters.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
