The maintenance mechanic I position is responsible for performing routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on all hospital buildings, mechanical equipment and utility systems to support the achievement of HHS/DW McMillan Memorial Hospital’s business goals and objectives. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 1. Perform minor and major repair of all building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis 2. Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis, inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts. 3. Cleans and inspects boilers; evaluates water treatment for proper chemical usage 4. Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklist on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures. 5. May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems. 6. Respond to emergency maintenance request as required 7. Perform regular preventive maintenance on equipment and plant facilities. 8. Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions. 9. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties. 10. Assist with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures. 11. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. Initiative Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and mechanical equipment rooms can be loud. Physical Demands This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds.
