About The Position

Maintenance Technician St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati (SVDP) has served residents of greater Cincinnati for over 150 years with basic needs such as food, medicine, and homelessness prevention through its outreach center in the West End and through fifty-six parish-based volunteer Conferences (chapters). SVDP provides holistic direct assistance and systemic change services while treating neighbors in need with dignity and compassion. Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance tasks at SVDP-owned and operated properties throughout Greater Cincinnati. This role plays a critical part in maintaining safe, functional, and welcoming environments for neighbors, volunteers, and staff. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience across building systems, takes pride in quality workmanship, works independently with sound judgment, and demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and accountability for assigned facilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in facilities maintenance, building trades, or a related field; additional experience is strongly valued.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record and the ability to regularly drive between multiple SVDP locations.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and maintenance documentation.
  • Familiarity with tools, materials, and equipment commonly used in building maintenance and repair.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills for tracking work orders, documentation, and scheduling.

  • OSHA certification, CPR/First Aid training, or other safety-related credentials are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs to interior and exterior building systems, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and minor HVAC tasks.
  • Assess maintenance issues, determine appropriate repair solutions, and address root causes to prevent repeat problems.
  • Respond to routine and emergency maintenance requests across multiple SVDP facilities in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and proactively identify safety or operational concerns.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely completion of projects and cost-effective solutions.
  • Monitor work performed by external parties to ensure compliance with specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of work orders, inspections, and material usage in the agency's maintenance tracking system.
